Getting Down To The Core

What is the core?
You hear it in nearly every class, but what does it mean?

In Pilates, the “core” refers to the deep muscles of your abdomen and back, the ones responsible for your body’s stability, balance, and posture. It’s this focus on core strength that sets Pilates apart from other forms of exercise.

Pilates begins by strengthening these deep stabilizers first. With a solid foundation in place, the rest of your body can move more efficiently. As your trunk becomes more stable, there is less pressure on the spine, often easing back pain and improving posture.

Unlike high-impact workouts, Pilates is low-impact and joint-friendly. It emphasizes alignment, control, and breath. Controlled breathing not only supports movement, it also helps deliver oxygen to your muscles, increasing flexibility and fluidity.

You can practice Pilates on a mat or on specialized equipment (Reformer) that uses springs and pulleys to provide resistance. This helps your muscles work through both engagement and release.

The result? Strength that’s long and lean – without the bulk.

In Her Studio

In Her Studio

Vicki offers private Reformer Pilates sessions in her home studio—a calm, light-filled space designed for focus, comfort, and personalized attention. The studio is fully equipped with traditional Pilates apparatus, including two Balanced Body Allegro Reformers with Towers. One is the Allegro Stretch Reformer, specially designed to accommodate taller or larger individuals—particularly those over 6’4″—and anyone who prefers more space for jumpboard work. With its longer frame and wider carriage, it offers the same performance and durability as the original Allegro, while enhancing comfort and range of motion.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, improving posture, or simply seeking to feel more at home in your body, this private setting supports a customized, one-on-one experience that meets you exactly where you are.

How It Works

1. First, a Consultation

We’ll begin with a conversation. Vicki will listen to your goals, talk through your options – one-on-one or small group – and help you choose the approach that fits best. From there, she’ll design a Pilates plan tailored for you.

2. Personalized Sessions

Each session is shaped around your needs. Whether you prefer the tighter focus of private training or the shared energy of a small group, Vicki will guide you with thoughtful cues, steady encouragement, and exercises geared toward your individual goals.

3. Check-in & Adjust

After six sessions, you’ll reconnect to review your progress and refine the plan. What’s working? What’s shifted? This check-in helps ensure your Pilates practice continues to support and enhance your strength, alignment, and overall sense of well-being.
